Quadruple Amputee Cornhole Player Charged in Fatal Maryland Shooting

A shocking incident in Charles County has led to the arrest of Dayton James Webber, a 27-year-old professional cornhole player and quadruple amputee, following a fatal shooting linked to an argument inside a vehicle.

According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, Webber allegedly shot Bradrick Michael Wells, also 27, who was seated in the front passenger seat during the dispute. Authorities say the incident occurred near La Plata.

After the shooting, Webber reportedly pulled over and asked two passengers in the back seat to help remove the victim from the vehicle. When they refused and instead alerted nearby police officers, Webber fled the scene with the victim still inside the car.

Roughly two hours later, a resident in Charlotte Hall discovered a body in a yard. Responding officers confirmed it was Wells, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Webber was later arrested in Albemarle County and is currently being held as a fugitive. Authorities in Charles County are seeking his extradition to face charges, including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and related offenses.

Webber previously gained national attention after being featured by ESPN in 2023. As a child, he underwent life-saving amputations due to sepsis caused by a severe blood infection. Despite these challenges, he rose to prominence in competitive cornhole, a sport where players toss bean bags at a slanted board with a target hole.

The American Cornhole League acknowledged the allegations in a public statement but declined further comment, citing the ongoing legal proceedings.

As the case develops, authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
